Every single day, millions of people share photos, PDFs, and office documents without realizing what is hidden inside them. A smartphone snapshot embeds exact GPS home coordinates, device serial numbers, and camera timestamps. A company PDF or Word document contains internal network paths, edit revisions, and full author names.

When searching for ways to clean this data, the reality of existing web tools was deeply frustrating. Most require uploading your files to remote servers, asking you to sacrifice control for the illusion of privacy. As renowned security expert Bruce Schneier warns:

As an indie developer, I got tired and bored of watching personal privacy treated as a bargaining chip. Who owns those servers? What happens to the metadata extracted while your file sits in their temporary directory? How long is it retained? The model was fundamentally broken.

There was no free, user-friendly tool that combined the raw privacy of an offline local utility with the effortless convenience of a modern, intuitive web application. So I decided to build it.
